A wine négociant is any merchant who bottles wine, but doesn't grow the grapes. Some négociants buy whole grapes from farmers and process the wine from scratch. These are called négociant-éleveurs, and they are usually the most sought-after, high-quality négociants. You'll also find négociants who buy unfermented grape juice from vineyards, or even négociants who buy finished wine. A négociant's job is to take on the expense of bottling and selling wine for the farmer so that vintners can focus on growing the best grapes possible. While wine from négociants can vary in quality, we work with the best négociants in the world to bring you the highest quality wine at the best possible value.
